Did you know that well maintained carpets are healthier for you and your family than hard floor surfaces? The reason for this is hard floor surfaces (even when well maintained) allow dust, dirt, allergens and pet hair/dander to become airborne where they are then easily breathed in. This is worse for small children as they are closer to the floor and more likely to breath in the particles. This can cause or worsen allergies and asthma symptoms. Carpets will filter and hold the particles down where they can be cleaned and removed without becoming airborne.
To keep your carpets clean and healthy for you and your family here are some tips:
- Vacuum at least once per week with a high quality HEPA vacuum cleaner. Change the bag or empty the collection container when ½ to ¾ full to maintain good suction. Clean/replace the filter as recommended by the manufacture.
- Clean up spills on carpets by placing a clean dry towel over the spill and applying pressure on it to blot up the spill. Do not rub, this will spread and push spill further into carpet.
- Have carpets professionally cleaned by JLM Certified Carpet Cleaning LLC 2 times per year. We use the best technics available and follow the standards set by the IICRC. Our process will not void your carpet warranty. Call 607-329-1024 to get started.
- Ask us about applying scotch guard carpet protector after cleaning. This will help repel stains and soil to keep your carpets cleaner between cleanings.
